Certificate Of Return Won’t Be Issued To Hope Uzodinma Of APC — INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in a statement released today Wednesday January 15,2020 revealed that certificate of return will not be issue to the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Hope Uzodinma as duly elected governor of Imo State until Enrolled order is served by the Supreme Court.

Yesterday January 14,2020 the Supreme Court annulled Emeka Ihedioha as Imo governor and declared Uzodinma as the authentic winner of the governorship election in April 2019

The commission can’t issue UzodinmaCertificate of return because it is yet to to receive enroll order of the Supreme Court judgement.

Rotimi Oyekanmi who is Chief Press Secretary to INEC National Chairman, , said in a statement, “the Commission is yet to be served with the enrolled order of the Supreme Court Judgment, therefore we cannot issue the Certificate of Return to the APC candidate yet.

He, however, observed that the non-issuance of the CoR cannot derail the swearing-in ceremony of the Imo governor.The commissions only believe on Certified true Copy of the Judgement and they don’t base on Newspaper or media publication.
